2016 sees the launch of the Event Rider Masters, an exciting new CIC*** series with unprecedented prize money and a goal of showcasing the sport of Eventing to a new global audience.

The series legs are:

Chatsworth House, Derbyshire – 14–15 May

Bramham Park, Yorkshire – 10-11 June

Barbury Castle, Wiltshire – 9-10 July

Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire – 6-7 August

Blair Castle, Perthshire – 27-28 August

Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire – 10-11 September

Event Rider Masters represents a new dawn in the world of Eventing – whilst the format of the CIC***’s involved will remain relatively unchanged, the goal of Event Rider Masters is to package the sport specifically for television audiences and to deliver exciting new prize money as yet unseen in the world of short-format Eventing.  Event Rider Masters will use new technology and reactive data to enhance the on and off-site experience for spectators, riders, owners and sponsors alike.

The launch of the series has come about through a collaboration of progressive owners, riders and organisers.  A team of six passionate eventing stakeholders led by Di Brunsden, have developed the concept over the past 18 months.  The series has full support of British Eventing, the British Equestrian Federation, the Event Horse Owners Association and the Eventing Riders Association, and in November 2015 was granted full FEI approval.

Each of the six classes will run under FEI rules and will be open to just 40 horse and rider combinations, balloted by FEI rider ranking points ensuring a top-flight competition featuring the best in the world.  With dressage in form order, reverse order show jumping and the top 20 reverse order cross country, the excitement of the competition is maintained.

The successful business team of Christopher and Lisa Stone, themselves event horse owners, saw real commercial potential in the Event Rider Masters and intend to support and develop the business model through their wealth of experience in both the sporting and financial spheres.

The Event Rider Masters has a guaranteed prize fund of £350,000£50,000 for each of the six classes and a £50,000 prize fund for the leading riders at the end of the series.  For 2016 the series will be UK based with a rapid expansion plan into Europe and beyond from 2017. Event Rider Masters is a partnership with EventingLive, a not for profit body that will support continued development and investment in the sport of Eventing.

An essential part of each Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials (9 – 12 June 2016) is our charitable partner and for 2016, the organising team is delighted to announce they’re teaming up with Parkinson’s UK. The national charity is the UK’s biggest research and support charity for those affected by Parkinson’s and will be the sixth charity to have the support of the Yorkshire event.

A team from the charity will be on site to promote the work of the charity which provides a valuable link to make sure people have what they need to take back control if diagnosed with Parkinson’s – from information to inspiration and of course raise essential funds towards support, campaigning and vital research.

Chrissie Fielden, Parkinson’s UK Regional Fundraiser for Yorkshire and Humberside, said, “We are thrilled to be chosen by Bramham as their charity partner, and are looking forward so much to attending the International Horse Trials. It is all very exciting.”

Six weeks before this year’s Bramham event, the charity will host Parkinson’s Awareness Week (18 – 24 April) throughout the UK where those living with Parkinson’s will be encouraged to share their stories, and fundraising events and activities will take place across the country.

Bramham Park has already been a hive of activity since the turn of the New Year and early signs spring are beginning to show. Event Director Nicholas Pritchard and his team are already in countdown mode; “The Park is just starting to transform from its winter state to the green of spring which kick starts the event build; it’s a great time of year! Our FEI officials have already paid us a visit, and walked the track for the cross country with designer Ian Stark. Ian has been busy and as usual has big plans, we just need to find the budget to match!” said Nicholas.

On working with Parkinson’s UK, Nicholas Pritchard said; “It’s fantastic to have Parkinson’s UK on board this year, and we’re looking forward to working with them to help raise vital funds to help find a cure.”

With eventing, show jumping, showing, young stock classes and Pony Club activities on show, the Equi-Trek Bramham Horse Trials is Yorkshire’s largest equestrian event. The showcase Equi-Trek CCI3* runs alongside the Bishop Burton College under 25 CCI3* and the British Equestrian Trade Association CIC3*; three great classes, four amazing days! Our on-line Box Office is open and booking in advance qualifies you for discounted tickets and free car parking. Tickets can be bought for the day or season and you can make your visit a little bit more ‘VIP’ with passes for the members’ enclosure. Or maybe you don’t want to miss a moment of the event so why not camp on-site – season and weekend tickets are available but hurry, these are the first to sell out!
