Following the cancellation of Chatsworth International Horse Trials in 2009 due to incredibly wet weather, there were a number of competitors who found themselves short of an international run that spring. With a new team in the Bramham Horse Trials Office, we took on the challenge of running a CIC3* alongside the existing CCI3* and Under 25 CCI3* with only three weeks to go. Although it added pressure in the office, the CIC3* was a great success, with over 40 top class entries, and it was decided that it was a great addition to the timetable and that it should continue as a permanent competition at Bramham.

This class has gone from strength to strength ever since, and in 2012 it was used as the final selection event for many nations (including Great Britain) for the London 2012 Olympics. That year, it was so popular with riders that we had to run an additional cross country day on the Sunday to ensure that everyone who wanted to compete was able to.  In 2016, we are one of the final international Events before nominations have to be in for the Rio 2016 Olympics, so many nations are expected to use Bramham as their final selection trial.  Can you spot the 2016 Olympic Champion here?!

The cross country course is slightly less demanding and shorter than the CCI3* course, but is still designed by world-renowned designer, Ian Stark.

This class is a great class to spot the up and coming future champions.

Timetable (tbc for 2017, but was as below in 2016):

Dressage for this class is on Thursday.
Cross country takes place on Saturday.
Show jumping is on Sunday.
Prize giving is mounted, and takes place in the Equi-Trek Arena straight after the final horse in the competition has jumped.

Entries for this class will open on 4th May, and close on 18th May 2017.

Online entries will be taken at
