The national British Eventing 80 Championships will run at the Bramham International Horse trials. BE and the event organisers have confirmed that the event will run alongside the four-star classes from 2022, with a direct qualification route this year.

BE chief executive Helen West said: “I am absolutely delighted to be in a position of announcing this and I can’t thank Bramham enough for their enthusiasm and commitment to delivering such a fantastic championship opportunity at this iconic venue for our members. To have the opportunity to contest a BE80 National championship in such a spectacular setting which is so intrinsically linked with the top end of our sport is something that we feel extremely fortunate to be able to offer our membership.”

The dressage for the BE80 championships will run on the Tuesday and Wednesday, and the showjumping and cross-country the following day, when the four-star sections will also start.

The British Eventing BE80 Championship is something every rider aspires to, and the 2022 edition should give competitors a taste of the big time. The competition will have a dedicated area in Bramham Park for the action but will still be an integral part of the event.

NAF’s support extends across the entire pathway to Bramham with them also taking title sponsorship across the BE80 national qualifiers which take place at the Area Festivals for the 2023 and 2024 Championships.  They will also further support the association with nutritional advice and guidance wherever possible inline with the work already undertaken with British Equestrian.

NAF said, The NAF Five Star BE80 Championship will provide British Eventing members with the opportunity to compete at one of Britain’s most prestigious horse trials and we are excited to be involved in helping to bring the Championship to fruition for the first time. We have supported both the amateur and professional levels of eventing for many years and we look forward to having the chance to meet the competitors headed to Bramham Park later on this year. The Clean Sport and efficacy messages that we strive to deliver are also key here and the team at NAF is always on hand to assist with any nutritional advice that British Eventing members need.”

For this year only, the route to the Championship will be through direct qualification – open to eligible combinations who are placed first in any BE80 section run between 3 May 2021-1 May 2022. Qualification for the 2023 Championship will be via the National Qualifier classes at the Area Festivals this season. For more information on qualification and eligibility, visit the BE website here
